The MaxPreps Cup annual high school athletic rankings placed Sacred Heart Academy as the #2 girls athletic program in the United States, and the #1 girls program in Kentucky.
According to the MaxPreps article highlighting Louisville high school sports: "Louisville has long been one of the nation's strongest centers of Catholic education with a rich tradition of parochial school athletics. That legacy is reflected in the latest MaxPreps Cup standings, where two of the city's flagship Catholic schools — St. Xavier on the boys side and Sacred Heart on the girls side — rank among the nation's top all-around athletic programs after another standout year of success across multiple sports."
The article continues: "Sacred Heart scored 1,272 points to finish second behind overall national champion Carmel (Ind.) in the girls standings. The Valkyries won state titles in tennis, swimming, soccer and field hockey during the 2025-26 school year. The school has won 119 state championships all-time including 37 in swimming, 16 in tennis, 10 in soccer and 14 in field hockey."
According to the MaxPreps website, "The MaxPreps Cup recognizes the best high school sports programs in the country. The competition uses an algorithm that awards points for state championships, runner-up finishes and national rankings based on size of state, popularity of the sport, size of school and number of teams in each playoff division."
No other girls school in Kentucky ranked in the top 45.
