Sacred Heart Academy announces the hiring of Charlie Edmiston as head coach of the Valkyrie Swim and Dive team.
Coach Edmiston grew up in Alpharetta, Georgia before moving to Louisville in 2010, where he most recently coached at North Oldham High School. Edmiston has a bachelor’s degree in Intercultural and Organizational Communication from Valdosta State University, where he played baseball, and a master's degree in Educational and Counseling Psychology from the University of Louisville, where he is finishing his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development. He is married with a young son.
The Swim and Dive team most recently won the 2022 KHSAA state championship title, their 10th championship in a row and 33rd championship in program history. The Valkyries were previous state champions in: 1963, 1964, 1978-1988, 1995-2000, 2003, 2004, 2010, 2011, 2013-2021.
