Sacred Heart will bestow the prestigious honor of Alumna of the Year to Jefferson District Court, Division 11 judge and 1999 graduate, the Honorable Jessica Moore. Judge Moore was an active Valkyrie, learning, leading and serving with strength and compassion. Since graduation she has relentlessly preserved her connection to SHA as Alumnae Board president, mentor, volunteer and cheerleader. Through her law and judicial career and volunteer work with organizations such as the Family Scholar House, Judge Moore is a community leader, mentor and role model to young women.
Dr. Cynthia R. Crabtree, president of Sacred Heart Schools for nearly 17 years will be presented with the Honorary Diploma; an exclamation point at the end of a remarkable career ahead of her retirement in June. In her time at Sacred Heart Schools, Dr. Crabtree has worked tirelessly for the betterment of all the schools, ensuring commitment to the Ursuline Core Values, dedication to the Ursuline Sisters and embodiment of the Charism of Saint Angela Merici.
Sacred Heart will present two outstanding alumnae with the Heart Award for their love and devotion to their alma mater and significant contributions to our community. The 2020 Heart Award recipients are Rose Elpers Wetterer ’77 and Jane Natalie Bennett ’83.
The Valkyrie Hall of Fame will induct three new members in 2020 for their outstanding athletic achievements and commitment to serving others, Elizabeth Campbell Moir ’07, Danielle Lillies Reyes ’00 and Shannon O’Bryan ’99.
Finally, the Ursuline Teaching Legacy Award will be presented to Sheila Huff for her dedication to Sacred Heart Academy over the last 40 years. The Award was established in 2008 to honor the Ursuline Sisters’ 150th Anniversary of teaching in Louisville. Ms. Huff has taught art and digital design, served as technology director and librarian, and is currently an assistant principal and dean of administrative services at the Academy. She earned the Honorary Diploma in 2005 and was the first recipient of the prestigious Loretta P. Mudd Excellence in Teaching Award in 1999.
The celebration will take place at the Mellwood Art and Entertainment Center on Thursday, February 6, 2002 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will include a reception, dinner, cash bar and awards ceremony.
