Sacred Heart Academy proudly introduces the Katy Brown ’83 Endowed Global Hearts Travel Program, a unique initiative made possible by Ms. Brown’s generous $1.5 million gift. This endowed program will enhance the present global travel program at SHA and allow students with financial needs to take advantage of these international experiences. SHA international trips for 2024-2025 year

Current SHA students and parents/guardians: Join us to learn more about all 4 SHA international trips on Mon, Sept. 16 at 6 pm in the SHA cafeteria.

 

Belize Service Trip through Hand in Hand Ministries

When you’ll travel: February 16-22, 2025 (7 days)

Where you’ll visit: Belize: Belize City, Altun Ha Mayan Temples and snorkel at Caye Caulker Island

Highlights of itinerary: During this service-learning immersion opportunity, students will work hard to build a house in Belize for a family in need. They will also immerse themselves in the community, visiting local places such as the Altun Ha Mayan Temples and Caye Caulker Island.

Connection to the Global Heart Travel Program pillars: Global Service

This trip is ideal for anyone interested in combining a travel experience with a physical, hands-on service opportunity! There is a maximum of 12 participants.

Iceland: Glaciers and Geysers

When you’ll travel: March 30-April 5, 2025 (SHA Spring Break, 7 days)

Where you’ll visit: Iceland, Reykjavík and Hvolsvöllur area

Highlights of itinerary: Explore Reykjavik, Thingvellir National Park, waterfalls and Geysir Geothermal area, a greenhouse powered by geothermal and hydroelectric energy, an Icelandic horse stable, explore the famous black sand beaches of Vik, walk on Sólheimajökull Glacier, and visit the Blue Lagoon.

This trip is ideal for: All students! Especially those who love the outdoors. Parents are welcome to enroll as travelers.

Language Immersion & Adventure in Costa Rica

When you’ll travel: May 28-June 5, 2025 (9 days)

Where you’ll visit: Guanacaste, Arenal, and Sarapiquí areas of Costa Rica

Highlights of itinerary: Ziplining, snorkeling, waterfalls, kayaking, salsa dance lessons, ecotourism, cooking class, scavenger hunts,

Connection to the Global Heart Travel Program pillars: Educational and Leadership Opportunity. Students will extend their proficiency in Spanish speaking with engaging, hands-on lessons about Costa Rican daily life, cooking, nature, and environmental sustainability.

This trip is ideal for: Spanish students with a Spanish 2 proficiency or higher, a sense of adventure, and an interest in caring for our planet

Athens & the Aegean

Where you’ll visit: The Isles of Greece: Athens, Delphi, Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Crete + Kusadasi, Turkey

When you’ll travel: June 12 – June 21, 2025 (10 days)

Highlights of itinerary: Stand in the shadow of the Acropolis and marvel at the fusion of modern buildings and crumbling ruins of the Athenian cityscape. Set sail for the Aegean Islands to see thatched windmills, blue-domed churches, white-washed houses, and pristine beaches. 

Connection to the Global Heart Travel Program pillars: This trip to Greece will not only offer students the opportunity to experience history, but also to build confidence and cultural sensitivity. This is true immersion and an opportunity to engage in diversity.   

This trip is ideal for: Everyone! On day 5 we will board an Aegean Sea cruise line, so if you love to travel by boat, this trip is for you!

Enrollment deadline: February 22, 2025
There is a maximum of 40 travelers. Parents are welcome to enroll as travelers.
