Sacred Heart Academy senior ZaKiyah Johnson has already set many records for the Valkyries, including being the first to score 2,000 points and get 1,000 rebounds in basketball program history. She's been named Gatorade Player of the Year in Kentucky three times, she played on the USA U18 gold medal team, she's led the Valkyries to three consecutive state tournaments (and they look forward to playing for five in a row this year), and she has committed to play for Kim Mulkey's team at LSU.
On Monday, Janyary 27, surrounded by her teammates and coaches in the Sacred Heart gym, she achieved something no other girl from a Louisville team has ever done when she was named to the prestigious McDonald's All-American team. The team, made up of the most talented high school players in the nation, will play in an exhibition game in New York City after regular season play ends.
Congratulations, ZaKiyah! Go Heart!
