In January 2021, Amelie and Jacqueline founded VaxConnectKY and MedTechConnect. These cousins watched their elderly family members struggle with trying to register for COVID vaccines. Both tech-savvy teens stepped in to make online appointments for seniors. A flier on social and broadcast media went viral and they were fielding interview requests from national media outlets. They even solicited President Joe Biden, Kentucky’s Governor and AARP to implement four improvements to the vaccine infrastructure. Amelie, a senior at Sacred Heart Academy, also volunteers for Norton Pediatric Cancer Institute. Jacqueline, a 2022 Governor’s Scholar, served on the Norton’s Children’s Hospital Teen Board, and entered into Boston College this fall. She received the Diana Award for this vaccine initiative and was selected by Prince Harry to present at the global ceremony two years ago.
