SHA Counselor wins University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award

Sacred Heart Academy College Counselor, Erin Burke, received the University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award.

Each year, newly admitted UChicago students have the opportunity to reflect on their time in school and nominate an educator who played a significant role in their education, made a positive impact in their lives, and whose influence has brought them to where they are today.

Class of 2022 graduate and a first-year student at the University of Chicago, Grace Jarboe, nominated Burke for this prestigious award.

Erin Burke SHA College CounselorErin Burke is a 1992 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Bellarmine University in 1996. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Louisville in 1997 and Master of Arts in School Counseling from Spalding University in 2017.

Burke began her career as an English teacher at St. Xavier High School from 1997 to 2004 before teaching part-time at Bellarmine University and then transitioning to Academic Advising in Bellarmine’s Student Success Center. She has been back at Sacred Heart Academy as a College Counselor since 2018.

Burke currently serves on the board of the Kentucky Association for College Admissions Counseling (KYACAC) and was the Kentucky delegate to the National Conference (NACAC) in Houston this fall.
