Archbishop Shelton Fabre Celebrates SHA Opening Liturgy; Tours Campus

On Tuesday, August 23, Sacred Heart Academy welcomed Archbishop Shelton Fabre to celebrate the opening liturgy and first all-school mass of the year. Archbishop Fabre encouraged our students to try their best to live as Jesus taught us, acknowledging that this can be a difficult task at times. He then asked our students: "I'll pray for you, and I ask that you pray for me," emphasizing that we all benefit from the shared power of prayer.

Students Nia Franklin and Grace Muth toured the Archbishop around the Academy, showing him the library, Accessible Education Center, a chemistry lab, and elaborating on our International Baccalaureate program and the history of the Ursuline Sisters on campus. Then Dr. McNay and Archbishop Fabre set off on a golf cart tour of our 48-acre campus on this beautiful day!

On behalf of Dr. McNay, Kelly Lanza, Fr. Tony Cecil, and all the students and faculty of SHA, we are so grateful to the Archbishop for sharing his time with us. What a blessing to begin the 2022-2023 school year!

After the opening school liturgy, Archbishop Fabre blessed the UEN flag, a symbol of our shared history with the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville and our connection to the global Ursuline community. In June, students Erin Leachman, Allison Conliffe and Amelia Lim attended The Ursuline Education Network Leadership Conference in Cleveland with Lauren Hitron, Director of the Jean Frazier Leadership Institute, and Assistant Principal for Student Life, Lynne Link.  #UrsulineCoreValues
