All Sacred Heart Academy students can choose to participate in the Frazier Fellows leadership certificate program, taking advantage of every leadership and study of leadership opportunity available to them through the Jean Frazier Leadership Institute. When completed, Frazier Fellows graduate with a certificate of distinction in leadership on their high school transcript. The inaugural class of Frazier Fellows and their families celebrated their accomplishments in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception in the Ursuline Motherhouse followed by a light reception. Each fellow received a commemorative medal she will wear with her gown during graduation.
Lauren Hitron, Director of the Jean Frazier Leadership Institute, said of this class, “It has been a great privilege to walk alongside this first class of Frazier Fellows. They have demonstrated extraordinary perseverance and leadership growth in their four years at Sacred Heart and the Jean Frazier Leadership Institute. I have seen tremendous leadership development in the Fellows, especially from those who identified as “quiet” leaders. They now understand how they too can be leaders and have the confidence to use their voices when needed. When I reflect on this class of Fellows, I know that the future is in good hands with these young women leading our communities and our world.”
The Frazier Fellows program is the culmination of three years of comprehensive study and practice focusing on servant leadership. Frazier Fellows participate in authentic leadership workshops and networking events, a personal finance course, a quarterly online leadership course, and a 40-hour authentic leadership internship or experience designed by the student. Fellows share their leadership growth and experiences when they present a final capstone project to a panel of faculty and community members.
The Jean Frazier Leadership Institute promotes a culture of leadership at Sacred Heart Schools by providing authentic learning experiences that create empowered leaders who seek to serve others. All students at Sacred Heart Academy participate in leadership programming through the Institute each year.
