The 15th Annual Pink + White Game took place last night at Saint Xavier High School and TEAM WHITE WAS VICTORIOUS! The Valkyries outscored the Rockets 29-6, holding them to no points until the very end of the game. MC Zoeller ran an interception back for one of the touchdowns as the crowd cheered “that’s our president!” (MC is the Student Council President). All of the players gave an incredible effort.
The student section was nothing short of AMAZING. All decked out in some of the most creative costumes seen in a long time and deafening in their cheers. It was a very special night.
Pink + White is a flag football game between Sacred Heart and Assumption seniors with halftime dance performances by Trinity and St. Xavier students. Fans from all four schools packed the stands, supporting their players and dancers.
As a fundraiser for Norton Healthcare’s Breast Health Center, the game has raised more than $270,000 over the last fourteen years. The mission statement of the game is “Four Schools + Two Rivalries + One Game = Everyone Wins.”
Each player and halftime dancer chose a cancer survivor to honor and the players and honorees took the field together during the opening ceremonies, releasing balloons to honor those loved ones lost.
Per tradition, during halftime, the two boys’ schools performed choreographed dance routines, to the amusement of all in attendance.
Every year, with this great evening of school spirit and sportsmanship, everyone wins.
