Jean Frazier Leadership Institute Names Valkyrie Entrepreneur of the Year

Sacred Heart Academy announces the finalists and winner of the first-ever Valkyrie Entrepreneur of the Year Award, sponsored by SHA's Jean Frazier Leadership Institute. Three Valkyries who have turned their passion into a business were selected by a committee and interviewed by professionals in the fields of finance and entrepreneurship.

Congratulations to Haylen Wehr '22, founder of sustainable fashion brand Bad Trip Clothing @badtripclothingco, Merryl Dougherty '22, founder of MDough Cookie Co. @mdoughcookieco, and Jill Heffernan '22, founder of Bright Beads @_brightbeads. All three students impressed the panel with their passion, poise, initiative, and business savvy.

Sacred Heart is proud to name Haylen as the Valkyrie Entrepreneur of the Year! Her sustainable business that redesigns old clothing into new fashions reflects the Ursuline Core Values and the Ursuline Sister's commitment to protecting the Earth. Haylen will receive a small stipend to support toward her business. She was chosen based on the criteria of leadership and management of business, product and production, marketing and sales, and financials.

All three students joined SHA teacher Ms. Kim Davis; JFLI Director Ms. Lauren Hitron; Director of Equity and Community, Ms. Mia Cooper; and Sacred Heart Schools President, Dr. Karen McNay, to attend the Business Women First luncheon at the Kentucky International Convention Center, where they met fellow Valkyrie business leaders and heard the keynote address by Nina Leigh Krueger '79.
