Sacred Heart School for the Arts Announces New Executive Director

SHSA Executive Director Kathie DavisMrs. Davis comes to Sacred Heart School for the Arts (SHSA) from the Oldham County Schools Arts Center, where she has served as the Artistic Program Director since 2010. Under her leadership, the program has grown from 60 to 600 students, with seven performances per semester featuring students in grades 3-12. During this time, Mrs. Davis also served as the Artistic Program Director and Curriculum Designer for the new Creative and Performing Arts Academy for Oldham County Schools. She aided in developing the curriculum for technical theatre and musical theatre, which led to the successful launch of the academy for high school students.

Mrs. Davis looks forward to beginning her new chapter at SHSA, saying, “I hope to bring a fresh vision and experience to the School for the Arts and benefit future generations of young artists. Creating a culture rooted in kindness, character building, and expectation of excellence has really been the foundation of our success at the arts center, and I will strive to set a long-term vision for SHSA and move toward that vision systematically. It is also important to me that there is a strong emphasis on the Ursuline values of reverence and a contemplative love of God along with community, leadership, and servanthood. I deeply resonate with these values.”

Dr. Karen McNay, president of Sacred Heart Schools, champions Mrs. Davis’s hiring. “She has the experience building an after-school arts program and curriculum in Oldham County and shows a true joy when speaking of how children grow and learn from participation in the arts. She is an out-of-the-box thinker and has a vision for reaching students and growing the program. Mrs. Davis’ references described her as compassionate and innovative, a clear communicator and listener who brings a level of excellence to everything she does. Mrs. Davis possesses the experience, character, and enthusiasm to successfully lead and strengthen Sacred Heart School for the Arts.”

Mrs. Davis earned a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Oral Roberts University. She also completed Music Theory, Aural Theory, and Vocal Performance Pedagogy coursework from Indiana University Southeast. She is married with three sons and five grandchildren.
