As Sacred Heart Schools continues to monitor the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we continue to recommend important, proactive actions each of us can take every day to protect ourselves and others from germs and viruses:
- Stay home when sick. Students with symptoms of acute respiratory illness are recommended to stay home until they are free of fever (100.4° F [37.8° C] or greater using an oral thermometer), signs of a fever, and any other symptoms for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing or other symptom-altering medicines (e.g. cough suppressants).
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or sleeve.
- Ensure handwashing strategies include washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
- Clean frequently touched surfaces.
We are taking additional precautions to appropriately clean and disinfect all areas within all four schools on campus.
Our food service provider, Flik Independent School Dining, is implementing and managing a proactive plan of actions and procedures following recommendations by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Administrative teams are meeting on a regular basis to explore options for delivery of instruction in the event of an extended school closure. We will communicate with parents, faculty and staff as recommendations and practices change. Information will be communicated through the Sacred Heart School website, SwiftReach, REACH Alert, and local news stations.
The CDC provides travel health notices to inform travelers about current health issues that impact travelers’ health, like disease outbreaks, special events or gatherings, and natural disasters, in specific international destinations. Please check https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices if you have travel plans. Sacred Heart Schools is also monitoring this information.
