Sacred Heart Academy teacher, Katie Daly, is the recipient of the distinguished Loretta Peter Mudd Excellence in Teaching Award.
The Sacred Heart Academy award was established in 1999 in memory of Loretta Peter Mudd, a 1931 graduate and former teacher. The award recognizes a full-time teacher who demonstrates dedication to every student’s learning and full human development. The recipient is knowledgeable in his or her field and holds students to high expectations of achievement. The recipient also demonstrates service to others and inspires students to do the same. Teachers are nominated by their peers, students, parents, and staff.
Nominators said of Ms. Daly, “she is on fire about the subject and inspires students to dig deeper- to look at both sides,” and that she is “a kind-hearted and caring person who is always positive,” and “treats everyone with respect and an expectation that they will succeed.”
Katie is in her ninth year of service at Sacred Heart Academy. She teaches US History CP II and III and Current World Affairs. Outside the classroom, Daly serves as department chair for the Social Studies Department, Academic Council member, and Y Club (KYA and KUNA) Moderator.
